Hakan Ağalar - Creating clarity from chaos
My name is Hakan Agalar and I am an FBA graduate. My story in IUS began with a recommendation of a friend.
I came to IUS because it catered to my unique learning style; my other alternatives couldn’t do that for me which stifled my ability to grow. IUS took the time to understand how I was different, then gave me the tools to be successful.
IUS’ international community, the extensive program, the campus and Sarajevo were perfect matches for me. From day one, I started using the resources available to achieve my goals during my time at the International University of Sarajevo
After graduating from IUS, I started working for an Apple Authorized Service Provider in Bursa, Turkey as a Senior Project Assistant. We have been cooperating with major brands in sound systems as supporting elements of the Apple Authorized Service Provider role for many years. Some of them are Bang & Olufsen, Harman / Kardon, Bose, Beats, Bowers & Wilkins, and JBL. This service which we offer with great pleasure has driven a desire for us to come up with our own brand and we started working on the Acoustibox where I've been appointed as a Project Manager.
Acoustibox is a gramophone lookalike acoustic speaker made out of top notch metal and wooden materials. Placing the phone on the wooden dock is enough for Acoustibox to increase the volume of the sound by at least three times through the metal horn, without any need for electricity, cable, power supply or bluetooth speaker.
My Acoustibox adventure began on March 2018 and within a short time, it became a huge success by getting into the national market as Vakkorama, Beymen, Harvey Nichols and Galeries Lafayette, the most prestigious department store chains in Turkey, presented the Acoustibox to its customers.
On the global context, thanks to the Maison et Objet, Paris and Ambiente, Frankfurt international trade fairs; Acoustibox acquired distributors and point of sales all around the world.
A strong work-ethic is an important factor of being successful in your career. Dependability and responsibility will help ensure success in the work environment. Possessing a positive attitude is another complementary element. Furthermore being adaptable in your career can mean you are able to respond quickly to changing ideas, responsibilities, expectations, trends, strategies and other processes at work. I think we should be always motivated to grow and open to learn as well.
My advice to current students would be to enjoy your experience in Sarajevo and be confident with who you are and do not worry about what other people think. What matters is what you and the people who care about you think. Just be who you are. What you are learning at IUS will help you through your whole life and the tools you are acquiring will set you up for success.
