It is my honour to be a graduate of the International University of Sarajevo. The 100% scholarship awarded to me as an excellent student of the Gimnazija „Edhem Mulabdić“ Maglaj brought me to IUS. I saw it as a great chance for academic and professional development. While, the international environment, English language as the mean of instruction mixed with an excellent program were the main reasons for starting the studies at IUS.
I loved every day spent at the International University of Sarajevo with all of its ups and downs. I have learnt so much from every single person, from professors and colleagues to administration personnel and ladies at cafeterias to our campus caretakers. All of them made me feel at home.
My academic development was helped by amazing professors at the Social and Political Sciences, International Relations, Management and Psychology departments. They gave me an opportunity for multidisciplinary studies and research.
Continued development is something I honestly value at IUS. My undergraduate studies differed from my graduate studies at so many levels. I have managed to build up my knowledge and skills in a way that helped me achieve my endeavours. After earning a Master´s degree in Political Science and Sociology at IUS, I also got a Master´s degree in Civil Law at the University of Sarajevo where I was awarded the Silver plaque of the University. Currently, I am finishing the European Regional Master´s Programme in Democracy and Human Rights in South-East Europe coordinated by the University of Sarajevo and the University of Bologna. My studies there were largely helped by the previous knowledge gained at IUS.
I had an amazing opportunity to do my traineeship at the Delegation of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Political, Press and Information Section as well as to work as Junior Research Fellow at the European Insitute of Policy Research and Human Rights. Work at these two positions showed me that studies at IUS prepared me well for both professional and academic career paths. Also, it is my pleasure to share with you that I got offers for PhD studies at both the University of Warwick and the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom. If I manage to secure the scholarship for the program, I will start my studies next year at one of those Universities.
IUS opened so many doors for me, showed me the path towards prosperity and ways in which I can achieve my dreams.
To all current students at the International University of Sarajevo, I advise to enjoy in every day of the studies, even when you are feeling down or stressed, it is a new lecture you will for sure come to value later. To prospective students, if you are looking for an amazing mix of an excellent academic program, great professors and friendly environment, look no further, you have found it!
